Nike shoe drive!

The shoes have shipped! We shipped  273 pairs of tennis shoes to Nike. Thank you so much for all of your support. Great job Norwich!  Reduce Recycle Reuse! Way to be great citizens of our planet!

Art Show Sunday!

Norwich Art Show- The Norwich Art Show is coming up on Sunday, May 6, 2012 from 2-4pm. Volunteers are needed to help with an in-school work day and the set-up day for the Spring Art show. Please see the below days and times for these work times and contact Joanne Pratt at 777-9262 with any questions. We hope to see you there! Wednesday, May 2, 2012 – 9:30am – 3:00pm – In-school work day Friday, May 4, 2012 – 6:00pm – Set up day

 

We need cookie donations for the Art Show!  Please bring cookies to school by Friday, May 4. They can be left in the Art room and marked Art Show.   Thank you!

Walk to school day: May 2

Walk To School Days-

 

Many neighborhoods  have organized a “walking school bus” route and will walk to school on Wednesdays in May. If you would like to be involved please fill out the attached permission form: Walk to school parent permission

May Wellness Committee Challenge!

During the month of May, see if you can do four of the following:

  • Think before you drink – go soda and sugary beverage-free for a week
  • Eat 2 slices of cheese with whole-grain crackers for a snack
  • Walk a mile during one weekend, because walking helps keep bones strong
  • Participate in Walk or bike to school  Day on May 2
  • Join in on a walking school bus!
  • Play outside for at least 60 minutes 3 days in a row!  (You can count outdoor recess minutes)
  • Eat  a serving of dark green, leafy vegetables, such as spinach, broccoli, and  bok choy for lunch or dinner
  • Have THREE  straight days of THREE servings a day of low-fat or fat-free milk, dairy, or foods with calcium added, such as calcium-fortified tofu, orange juice, soy beverages, and breakfast cereals or breads.      Count the mg of calcium and make sure you are getting 800 or 1,300 mg a  day.

End of Year Field Days-  Please see the below schedule for our up-coming Field Days.    This is a great opportunity for students to play many different types of games together.

 

Friday, May 11 9:45-11:30 – EWI (Duncan, Gehring, Montgomery, Willke) 1:30 – 3:15 – WWI  (Getty, Maple, Pruitt)
Tuesday, May 15 9:45-11:30 – EWP (Miles, Germaine, Walton, Finneran) 1:30-3:15 – WWP  (Hobson, McCreary, Ogden)

Wednesday, May 16 9:45-WWEP  (Swartzbaugh, Ripp, Cushnie, Stroh) 1:45-3:30 – EWEP*  (Sicker, Gast, Dakers, Clifford)

Parent Volunteers are needed for ALL field days!  Let your child’s teacher know if you can help, please!
